How to make a huge cup for hot chocolate photoshoots

    I set out to make my own huge cup to use as a prop for my Hot Cocoa photoshoots at Christmas time. First, I bought a huge planter pot from Home Depot for $20. I also got some white spray paint that was semi glossy. You can choose any color that you want. 

    I already owned a drop cloth and painters tape. I also bought a pvc pipe to make my straw. I got red duct tape for the stripes on my straw. 

    I went to Hobby Lobby and found the card board number two  for the handle. All in all I probably spent $40.00 on all of my supplies. 

    I painted my whole  planter pot white. That includes the inside of the pot. After it dried, I painted it again. Then, I painted the PVC pipe the exact same color. I cut out a template with cardboard for the handle. I used that template to cut the number two into a handle shape. I also painted the handle with the same white paint that I used on the pvc pipe and on the planter pot. I then used super glue to attach the cardboard handle to the planter pot turning it into a large cup for my sessions. I used the painters tape to hold the cardboard handle in place until the glue completely dried. 

After the paint on my straw dried I took my red duct tape and wrapped it around the pipe so it would look like a huge straw. 

Overall, it took me 2 days to make it simply because I had to give the paint time to dry in between coats. I absolutely love how easy it was to make. My Christmas photos turned out so good!
